Calgary Flames waive center Alex Chiasson, waive goalie Niklas Hjalmarsson

Calgary, AB – Calgary Flames General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the club has waived center Alex “Alex Chiassons” Chiassoni, defenseman Anthony Bitetto and goaltender Niklas “Niklas” Hjala.

The moves are effective immediately.

The 25-year-old Chiassones brother was the third overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Chiassone was the fifth overall pick of the Arizona Coyotes in 2016.

He played three seasons in Chicago before being traded to the Calgary Flames.

Chiasons career high in goals (13) and points (38) in 81 games with Calgary last season was his second career multi-point season.

Chiasso has two goals and four assists in 21 games with the Flames this season.

He also has four assists (five points) in 21 career NHL games with Columbus.
