With a new year behind them, the New York Police Department has begun a new strategy for policing.
As the department announced in May, the new policy calls for a new approach to its policing strategy.
The goal of the policy is to better protect New Yorkers from crime.
In New York, the NYPD’s strategy will likely focus on the most violent and violent offenders.
According to the New Yorkers Police Department’s website, there were 8,091 homicides in 2017, with 4,934 victims, or about one per day.
In comparison, there have been more than 1,200 homicides in New York City over the last 50 years, according to data from the Brennan Center for Justice.
The policy calls on officers to prioritize “prevention” in their efforts to stop crime.
Instead of focusing on arresting those who commit violent crimes, officers will focus on those who “act out of desperation,” or in “panic” to avoid arrest.
This means police will be less likely to stop a person who is already on the streets, but more likely to take action when a situation escalates into violence.
“This will help us prioritize our response to the threat of violent crime, as well as increase our ability to protect our community and protect our communities from the threat that is posed by the violent criminals who are a part of the criminal underground,” NYPD Commissioner John J. Pallotta said in a statement.
But what does this mean for the police in your city?
As it stands now, the policy calls that violent criminals can be considered for arrest only when they commit an act of “criminal violence.”
But it’s not clear exactly how violent crimes will be prioritized under the new strategy.
Some New York police officers are concerned that the policy could lead to more violent criminals being treated like civilians, and they worry that their actions could result in a backlash from the public.
According to the Brennan Centers, there are currently more than 200,000 arrests in New Mexico each year.
to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, there has been an increase in violent crime in the state over the past decade, with an average of 20.8 violent crimes per 100,000 people.
And while the NYPD has not released the policy as of yet, the Brennan study found that the vast majority of violent offenders in the city are black and Hispanic, and that there has also been a recent increase in shootings and homicides.
There are also concerns that the new tactic could lead the NYPD to overreact to violent crimes.
Last month, for example, the city of Brooklyn received an anonymous tip that a man was threatening to commit a “shoot-out.”
The police responded to the scene, but the man was not there when they arrived, according the Associated Press.
It is unclear whether or not the new plan will lead to the same type of response from the NewYork City Police Department, but there are some potential benefits to focusing on prevention rather than arrest.
“The goal is to stop violent crime before it gets out of hand,” Pallotta told reporters on May 27.
However, the fact that the NYPD is now implementing this new strategy does not mean it will be effective.
As noted in the report by the Brennan center, New York has seen a dramatic rise in homicides over the years.
According the data from that report, there had been nearly 1,600 homicides in Brooklyn over the same time period.
Pallotta said the goal of this new approach is to “prevent crime before violence.”
But the fact is, crime has escalated dramatically in recent years, and the NYPD seems to be focusing on preventing crime rather than preventing the violence.
